All-Inclusive Travel Takes the Guess Work Out of Tipping

Are you considering purchasing one of many popular ‘all-inclusive’ travel packages? These types of everything-in-one-package vacations are growing in popularity, because they take the guesswork out of travel. Let’s face it: nobody will ever claim that budgeting for a vacation is fun. One of the greatest …

Its a Jungle Out There- Trekking through the Amazon

Nothing can prepare you for the beauty and magnitude of the Amazon jungle like being there in person. While pictures and videos are certainly pretty, actually experiencing the Amazon is like no other experience in the world. Trekking through the Amazon has been a long time dream for many who crave exploring wilderness at its finest. There are many travel companies that can help you plan and prepare for an amazing trek through the Amazon.

When you plan your trip to the Amazon, you will need to know what to pack. It is recommended that you try to pack light. You will not need to bring more than five days worth of clothing because drop-off laundry service is found throughout Peru. Walking is the way to get around, so you will need to fit your items in a lightweight backpack that you can easily carry. Peru has a very hot and humid climate. Shop carefully and find clothing that will protect your arms and legs from the searing heat and monster-sized mosquitoes. A wide-brimmed hat is a necessity. In addition, consider taking dark sunglasses and a bandana. You will certainly need a good amount of high quality sunscreen and an extra pair of shoes.

There are no fancy places in the Amazon jungle, so you can get by with wearing the same clothes while you are on your trip. You might want to include a rain jacket, fleece jacket for the evenings and long, but lightweight underwear for night. If you are planning on sleeping on the trails, you will need a good quality sleeping bag that is specially rated for freezing temperatures. You will not need a tent. Most experienced tour guides will bring a tent along.

In addition to packing the right kind of clothing, you will need to include a Swiss army knife, strong tape for minor repairs, a sewing kit, hand sanitizer, a roll of toilet paper, binoculars, flashlight and a camera. Bring along any medication you may need, along with strong insect repellant. If you are concerned about the water, you can purchase water-sanitizing tablets to make it safer to drink.

There are perfect times to visit. The peak time to visit Peru and the Amazon jungle is between June through August. This is the time of year when the weather is sunny and relatively dry. Prices tend to be higher during this time and tourist hot spots can be crowded. The rainy season in the Amazon is usually between December and April. Trekking through the Amazon can be difficult due to the wet and muddy paths. Experienced travelers recommend visiting Peru in between these seasons in May, September and October.

When you get ready to travel, remember that seeing all of Peru will be difficult in one trip. Select what you really want to see very carefully and find a tour guide that can help you do what you are want to do.

According to an experienced traveler to the Amazon, here are some things that visitors to the area should see:

Visit the Huanchaco Beach and soak in the sun and sand

Explore the Sican pyramids at Batan Grande, backpack along the trails
