To Buy or Not to Buy, that is the Travel Insurance Question

Going on vacation can alternately be one of the most anticipated and the most stressful events of the year. It can be so incredibly exciting to spend part of your time planning destinations to visit, people to see, activities to attend, and places to see. You get the opportunity to read all of the materials the travel agency, Internet site, or chamber of commerce may have on the area you plan to attend. You may have even received coupons in the mail. Perhaps you have a few new restaurants in mind to try. A few days before your vacation, after the rooms have been booked, flight reservations are made, and most everything is packed, your traveling companion takes seriously ill. What now? Worse yet, maybe there’s a death in the family. How do you handle all of the reservation changes? Will you get your money back? In Westchester NY  a recent reservation snafu caused lost time waiting for  a flight. They were stuck at  Westchester  for hours. (more…)

Road Trip Route 66 Highlights

If you are planning a road trip in the near future, you should certainly consider driving Route 66. In the summer of 1926, Congress declared that a road should be built between Chicago and Los Angeles. It was to be one of the most important vehicular arteries in our nation. Road planners always intended Route 66 to connect rural communities to a major thoroughfare. With the Great Depression, families and single wanderers of all types kept the route well traveled as they headed to other towns in search of a better life. Tourists began to join the ranks of travelers, and Route 66 was immortalized in books, movies, and music. The Federal Government finally decommissioned it in 1985. If you would like to soak up some of the history that was such a cultural icon for so many years, there are still many sites to see along the old road.

One of the most important attractions along Route 66 is the Wigwam Motel in Rialto, California. This lodging facility was originally located in San Bernadino, but due to zoning changes in later years, it was classified as a Rialto address. Frank Redford, who grew up under the influence of Native American culture, built the motel in 1949. His business began when he build a teepee in Kentucky to display some Native American artifacts. A year later, he added teepee shaped cabins to the premises to offer visitors a place to stay during their trip. In 1937, he got a patent for the design. There were originally supposed to be seven Wigwam motels throughout the United States, and while the others were present for a short time, only two of them have been as well preserved as this one. When all seven villages were operational, each had the sets of teepee cabins around a large office teepee. (more…)

The Ultimate in Golfing Getaways (discount travel agency help) St. Andrews

The Ultimate in Golfing Getaways St. Andrews

So you love golf. You live golf, breath golf, and every vacation you book is somehow tied into golfing. You do not book a hotel if there is no golf course readily accessible, and you do not bother going on vacation unless there are 18 holes of lush greens nearby. Why not book the ultimate in golfing getaways St. Andrews, Scotland?

Accommodations are plentiful for this once in a lifetime trip. Take for example the famous Strathtyrum house which is right across the street from the most famous golf course in the entire world: the Old Course. Sure, the other St. Andrews courses are nearby, but the Old Course is where true connoisseurs of the game want to play. Beginners will enjoy Balgove, while other may wish to try their luck on the New Course, Jubilee, Strathtyrum or Eden.

Another outstanding location is the Old Course Hotel and Resort, which actually overlooks the 17th hole of the Old Course. It has been voted the worlds leading golf resort, and you will have to pay for this distinction. In return, you may be assured to have the golf vacation of a lifetime.

If this is a bit too rich for your blood, why not try the Old Station Country House, which is located a few miles outside of St. Andrews and is actually a restored railway station. A wonderful little Bed and Breakfast that is somewhat off the beaten path, the accommodations are unique and comfortable. Another Bed and Breakfast, the Ducks Crossing, is located about ten minutes away from the first hole of the Old Course and its Victorian charm as well as its museum like quality of artifacts makes for a great conversation starter.

The Inn on North street has rooms for weary travelers as well as a happening bar and restaurant. Located only four minutes away from the first hole of the Old Course, this location is a coveted spot for travelers and diners alike.

St. Andrews Bay is quite possibly another of the most luxurious accommodations available for golf enthusiasts. Opened in 2001, this resort caters to the family. For those parents who cannot wait to hit the course but dont have a sitter, the hotel operates the Bay Gulls program which seeks to safely occupy the children while the parents go about playing golf. The children will play parachute games, go on outings to the historic sites surrounding the resort, and will also have meals and other activities to keep them happily entertained.

Various other local bed and breakfast outfits vie for the business of avid golfers, so it does pay to shop around. Be sure to ask for hidden fees and extras. Travel in the United States varies greatly from travel in Scotland, and what Americans may sometimes take for granted by way of accommodation is a novelty or an extra in a foreign country. You may also wish to ask for other sightseeing tours that are available, after all, Scotland is a land of history and beauty and you will miss out significantly if you do not take advantage of the sights and sounds this great country has to offer.

When wishing to play the Old Course, you will need to keep in mind that reserving a tee time there is a lot different than setting up a time at the local country club. Rather than arriving and then attempting to set up a time, do so before you even leave home! You may contact the course via e-mail or regular mail and offer three available dates. In addition, you must provide the course with a valid handicap certificate.

Another way of getting a tee time at the Old Course may be by booking through a specialized travel agency. Some agents have been given guaranteed tee times to the course, and if you book through them, you will be able to get onto the golf course without the hassle of having to book the time yourself. Of course, do expect to pay a little extra for this convenience!

As you can see, a golfing getaway to St. Andrews is a wonderful experience, and with so many choices of available resorts and bed and breakfast inns, you will be ensured to create the tip of a lifetime!

The Ultimate in Theme Park Travel Disneyland! (tourism guide information)

Filed under: san antonio, AZ, Cheap Tourism Air Help, Latintravelcenter.com — Admin @ 11:10 am

The Ultimate in Theme Park Travel Disneyland!

When deciding where to travel, theme parks may come to mind. For the ultimate in theme park travel, consider Disneyland. A playground for the old and young alike it has activities for all the members of your family.

First thing to do is to plan when to go. Depending on the time of year that you decide can make a big difference on the activities that are available as well as the crowds. Winter is the least busy season for the park, but it is also rainy season in California. This can make it difficult to do activities that are limited by the weather. It is also the time of year where more attractions will be closed down for repairs.

Since Disneyland is family oriented, you will find that whenever the kids are off from school will be the busiest. This includes major vacation times as well as three-day weekends. Of these summer is the busiest. However, Disneyland keeps the park open longer and the majority of the attractions are available.

If you are looking to avoid the crowds, times when the kids are in school are the best. Choose spring or fall for the lighter crowds and the higher probability that attractions will be open.

After you decide when to go, you will want to decide how long you want to stay. If you are planning on seeing all the attractions at Disneyland, then you are going to need several days. Taking advantage of Fastpass or Ridemax can help minimize waiting in long lines for rides. Also keep in mind if you want to visit Disneys other attractions, such as California Adventure. With a one-day ticket, you can only visit the park listed. If you decide on a multi-day pass then you can visit both parks in one day or alternate the days of your trip.

Once you get there, it is time to have fun! There is so much to see and do; you might want to plan your day before you leave your hotel room. One way to get more in is to consider using FASTPASS. FASTPASS basically lets you do your waiting in line somewhere else. When you get to the attraction, you could choose to wait in line. If you are thinking of doing something else, go the FASTPASS machine. It will give you a time to come back. If that is going to work with your schedule, then insert your ticket and get your FASTPASS. Then you are free to see a show, enjoy another ride, or go and get a bite to eat. Just make sure that you are back in the FASTPASS line at your assigned time. Some of the attractions that you can see this way are: Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, Grizzly River Run, California Screamin and many more.

Who you have in your group will definitely make a difference in the attractions that you will want to stop at while in Disneyland. When traveling with children, you may want to consider the themed rides that are slower in pace and smoother. Some of these are Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo the Flying Elephant; Its a Small World, King Arthur Carrousel, and Mr. Toads wild ride. Keep in mind that some of these attractions take place in a darkened atmosphere, so sensitive children may get a little nervous. Do not forget that there will also be Mickey, Minnie, and all of the friends throughout the park, and you child might enjoy getting autographs.

If you have a more adventurous child, these rides are smooth enough but maybe be a little scary for younger children. They include the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. Children can ride the Matterhorn Bobsleds and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters if accompanied by an adult.

The roller coaster-style rides do have height restrictions for your childs safety. The majority of them require your child to be at least 40 inches tall, so you might want to explain this before you go so you do not have anyone severely disappointed.

If you are looking for a place that you can sit down and rest for a little while, there are some options. You could see one of the shows such as the Enchanted Tiki Room or Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. A few of the rides last at least 15 minutes as well; including the Haunted Mansion and Its a Small World.

Regardless of who is in your group, everyone can find something great to do at Disneyland. It is one of the great places to go for a family vacation.

Great Ideas on Packing for your Sunny Cruising Adventure

You have finally booked your cruise and are ready for the adventure of a lifetime! You are looking forward to the tables laden with scrumptious foods, the visits to exotic locations, and the rest and relaxation you will enjoy poolside. You cannot wait to finally get on board, but suddenly you realize that you do not know what to wear and what to bring. Should you pack for cold weather, warm weather, or somewhere in-between? After you take some time to take out of your closet everything you think you will need, you realize that you will not have enough suitcases to accommodate the load of clothes and accessories you see before you never mind the fact that it will take a small army to haul everything on board.

Just as you are wondering if there is an easier way to pack for your cruise, here are some great ideas on packing for your sunny cruising adventure:

Pack your important documents first. These could include your passport, visas, vaccination certificates, airline tickets, cruise tickets, insurance cards, drivers license and proof of car insurance, ATM card, credit cards, travelers checks, cash, and phone cards.

Next pack your electronics, such as your cell phone and charger, watch and extra battery, camera with extra batteries and extra film, camcorder with charger, and binoculars.

Thereafter you may wish to pack paper items, such as maps, brochures, books and magazines to enjoy during your trip, and little business cards with your e-mail address on them to give out to cruise friends, if you so desire.

Now is the time to pack your important toiletries, such as medications, specialized shampoo or conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, sunscreen, and after sun lotion. Dont forget your contact lenses and cleaners, or your reading- and sunglasses. Also pack a small first aid kit and include some Dramamine to prevent motion sickness for those choppy days on deck. Do not forget a sewing kit to repair small tears and holes in your clothes!

Remember to remain cool, and so pack a hat, sun visor, or maybe both.

Next on the list are the clothes. Do not over pack, but instead plan ahead for the activities you will most likely encounter. If swimming is on your agenda, be sure to pack your swimming suit. Read up about the locations you will visit and look up photos on the Internet or in travel brochures. What are the people wearing? This will provide you will a valuable clue as to the weather and other conditions.

Consider also if there are occasions for formal dress, such as a dance on the ship. Are there more than one formal occasion? Your travel agent will help you understand your brochures, and will help you to tailor your expectations accordingly.

Women should pack one formal outfit complete with accessories, i.e. strapless bra and stockings, costume jewelry, and purse. Consider packing outfits in basic colors that mix and match and that go with a large number of accessories, such as scarves, belts, and purses. This will permit you to cut down on the amounts of clothes you will need to take with you. Be sure to pack sturdy walking shoes, as well as comfortable sandals, and a pair of formal shoes. If you are planning to go to the beach, be sure to bring beach shoes to prevent your feet from getting hurt on hard shells. You also need to make sure to pack some cold weather items, such as a jacket, sweater, and also a raincoat.

Men should pack a tuxedo complete with all accessories, sturdy shoes, slacks, dress shirts, golf shirts, and t-shirts, swimwear, cold weather gear, and some shorts.

As you can see, if you plan well for your cruise, you will not have to find yourself in a position of packing everything but the kitchen sink only to find out later that you do not need half the things you packed in the first place. Talk to your travel agent if you are not sure what the weather will be during your cruise experienced so that you may plan adequately for all eventualities.

Destination San Antonio- From the Alamo to the Riverwalk

San Antonio is one of the top destinations for visitors to Texas. Even residents of Texas love to visit this beautiful city for weekend trips. This city has something to offer for everyone. Children and families will appreciate the entertainment of Fiesta Texas and Sea World and history buffs will love visiting the Alamo and other historical sites. San Antonio is a city that is steeped rich in culture and history. This city is rated as the eighth largest city in the United States, and while big, visitors certainly do not get the big town feel. To truly appreciate this city, you must understand a bit about the history. Before the Spanish explorers discovered the river in 1691, Native Americans called this area home. The Spanish soon built the Mission San Antonio de Valero, which in 1836 became the famous Alamo. The Alamo is one of the top places to visit in the city, as it is the site where 189 defenders held the mission against the Mexican troops for 13 days. It is here where Remember the Alamo became known as the rally cry for Texas independence.

Today, The Alamo remains a place that is carefully preserved for all to see. Not only can visitors walk the grounds of The Alamo, but also explore the actual inside of The Alamo and take in the shrine and museum located inside. Visitors to the area can also take tours of downtown San Antonio to see La Villita, which is one of the original settlements used by Spanish soldiers and their families. The San Fernando Cathedral, which was built in 1731, is also a popular place for travelers. Also, if you love Texas history, make sure you visit the Jose Antonio Navarro State Historical Park. For a little shopping, check out the Market Square located in downtown. It is the home to the largest Mexican marketplace outside of Mexico. (more…)

Traveling with your Pets Tips for Airline and Car Destinations

When you start thinking of vacation time, many people have to consider their four-legged furry friends at the same time. Traveling with your pet can be a lot of fun, but also requires some additional planning and preparation.

First thing is that it is important to make sure that your pet is healthy enough for the trip. This includes a visit to your vet, where you will want to make sure that you have all of the vaccinations current. If you are traveling by air, then you will need a health certificate stating that your pet is healthy enough to fly. Check with the airline before you go, as some require that your trip be within a certain number of days before you leave. This is also the time to make sure that you have enough of your pets medications on hand as well if he is taking any long-term prescriptions. If your pet gets anxious in the car, talk to your vet about a mild sedative to help take the edge off. If you have a very sick or elderly pet, it might be best to consider leaving them with a friend or at a kennel instead of putting them through the stress of traveling. (more…)

Gang Up On Green Gills Banishing Motion Sickness For Good

One of the primary setbacks for many travelers of the world is motion sickness. While you may feel completely alone as you tackle this problem throughout your many journeys, try to remember that thousands of people suffer from this chronic condition each year. Motion sickness is a bit more complicated that you may have ever imagined. While you may feel nausea with the onset of this condition, other people experience a range of symptoms including heart palpitations, extreme sweating, even fainting.

Motion sickness is caused when the fluid in your ears, also called endolymph, sends confusing signals to your brain. You are suddenly no longer able to distinguish between the movement you think you feel and the movement that is actually occurring. Most people who experience motion sickness vomit within the first half hour of symptoms. This, however, does little to relieve the pain associated with the condition. The cause of motion sickness, as well as the reasons some people suffer from the condition while others are left untouched, is a bit of a mystery. (more…)

Pyramid Scheme-Travel, Egyptian Style

Considering that the Egyptian pyramids were built piece by piece over 4600 years ago makes them one of the top travel destinations in the world. The Egyptian pyramids are so massive that seeing them on television or in books just does not do them justice. You must see the pyramids in person to appreciate the sheer magnitude of these wonders of the world.

Originally, the pyramids in Egypt were built to serve for multi-purposes. The most common use was to hold the remains of royalty. Usually, these pyramids were built with numerous hidden shafts, corridors and galleries. These lead to the Kings burial chamber or were probably used for other reasons, although the reason is not fully understood. Some believe that the pyramids were used for astronomical purposes or cult worship.

Today, the outside appearance of the Egyptian pyramids differ a great deal than they did when they were originally built. When they were first built, the outside of the pyramids had a smooth limestone surface. However, after hundreds of years of weather and looters, this limestone is now gone. The outsides of the pyramids now have a rough, rugged look.

Traveling to Egypt to see the pyramids is a vacation of a lifetime. Thousands of people flock to Egypt to take in the deep culture and to behold the beauty of these structures. The largest pyramid in Egypt is the Great Pyramid of Giza. This great pyramid is located on the west side of the Nile, near Cairo. When it was first built, it measured 481 feet high. Over time, it lost over 30 feet off of the top. This pyramid is made with approximately 2 million blocks of stone, each weighing more than two tons. Remember that these blocks of stone were placed by hand and with very little technology.

Booking a trip to Egypt should be done only after careful research. These trips can be costly. You want to make sure that you see and do everything while you are on your trip, while staying safe. Here are some must-see attractions in Egypt that all tourists should consider:

Great Pyramid of Giza: As mentioned, this the biggest pyramid in Egypt. It is magnificent and seeing this great wonder of the world will make you ponder the meaning of life. When you visit this pyramid, you will be able to go inside, unless restoration is taking place. However, some have reported that the inside is less than exciting. You will see empty corridors that have long since been looted. While the pyramids seem from pictures to be in the middle of the desert, they are on the very outset of the city of Giza. You can arrange to walk, hike, bike or even take a camel ride to the pyramid.

Luxor and the Valley of the Kings: Most visitors to Egypt will want to visit both of these places. When you arrive, you will find that some of the areas are close to visitors. Luxor is on the edge of the Nile. There are several hotels that cater to the tourists to the area. There are also smaller places where you can stay for a cheaper price. The Valley of the Kings has two areas to tour, one is the East Valley and the other is the West Valley. Most tourists are attracted to the East Valley because they have many tombs. For a normal ticket price, you can enter up to three tombs. If you want to see King Tuts tomb, you will need to purchase a separate ticket. Luxor is a major attraction for tourists. The streets are full of open markets, restaurants, temples and more.

Traveling the Nile: The Nile is a world famous river. Who hasnt heard of the Nile? You can certainly book trips where you can take a ride down this famous river. In fact, many travel agencies that specialize in trips to Egypt actually book seven-day cruises along the Nile. Most of these cruises will stop along at some of Egypts most famous sites.

Whatever interests you, Egypt is filled with places to see and things to do. Visiting the pyramids and other famous sites will be a vacation come true. Plan your vacation in advance and if you are going through a travel agent, make sure you choose a reputable company.

Chandler Arizona Living

Filed under: AZ, Chandler — Admin @ 7:03 pm

Chandler, the fifth largest cit in Arizona began when its founder, Dr. Alexander John Chandler, arrived in Prescott, the capital of the Arizona Territory, in 1887 as the first appointed veterinary surgeon to the region.

Unfortunately, the entire southwest was experiencing a severe drought. Dr. Chandler found that he was unable to help the area’s cattle herds and resigned his post and made plans to move on to California. However, as he arrived in the small frontier town of Phoenix, a deluge of rain began to fall that halted all travel. Dr. Chandler watched from his hotel room as the desert blossomed into a fantastic array of renewed life.

Today, Chandler home buyers enjoy a diverse choice of architectural, well-established, well-maintained neighborhoods, and diverse, master-planned communities. An award-winning set of housing guidelines has ensured buyers a diverse marketplace when it comes to purchasing a home.
